A Visit To Book Fair Essay
Fairs are part and parcel of Indian Culture. A Book Fair is different from other fairs. They provide books of different languages, topics, and sections under one roof. Book fairs are organized in all major cities. But the world Book Fair of 2007, held in Pragati Maidan, Delhi from 10th December to 22nd Dec. was very special.
Our class teacher planned to take all of us to this fair. The fair was organized in combination by National Book Trust and N.C.E.R.T. The theme of the fair was 'Children's Literature'. There was free entry and the timings were 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Renowned booksellers from throughout the country participated in this fair. There were about 2000 stalls in the fair.
Books on every topic, periodicals, teaching aids, audio-visual materials, computer software, and hardware, etc. were also available. Children's literature was in abundance from K.G. to the senior class. The books were available in not only English and Hindi, but also in German, French, Sanskrit, Tamil, Urdu, and so many other languages also. There was a large variety of dictionaries also. Many reputed publishers were giving a special discount to students. Some were distributing gifts also.
Some shopkeepers have arranged for light snacks also. The books of Engineering, Law, Computer Science, Informational Technology, etc. were available. All of us bought books according to our requirements and taste. With the bulk of books and C.Ds in our hands, we returned back at the early night. We were feeling lucky, at least. We have spent a day in the midst of varied knowledge.
