A Visit To Historical Building Essay
I always wanted to visit a historical monument outside Delhi. Last year my uncle has been transferred to Agra. As my summer vacation started, I told my wish about my parents to visit the Taj Mahal, a monument of eternal love. Agra is surrounded by many historical buildings. We visited all of them.
But the building that appealed to us the most, was the majestic Taj Mahal. It is really a marvelous building. It deserves to be one of the Seven wonders of the world. It is completely made up of white marble on the banks of river Yamuna. It was built by emperor Shahjahan in the loving memory of his beloved wife, Mumtaz Mahal.
It is estimated that twenty thousand laborers worked day and night for twenty years to build this masterpiece of beauty and love. They made it so beautifully that Shajahan ordered to cut off the hands of those workers so that they could not make any other rival monument - like the Taj. A red Sand Stone arena surrounds the whole area. The entry gate is honored with the holy verses of Quran Sharif. After entering through this gate, there is a waterway.
On both sides of this waterway, there are beautifully laid out pathways. This is the passage for entering the Taj. The Taj stands on a raised platform. There are tall minarets in four corners of this platform. The tomb is situated in the central hall of the building. The graves of Shahjahan and Mumtaz Mahal lie below this tomb.
The walls of the hall are furnished with floral motifs. Everybody has to go down the stairs to reach the underground room where the real graves of Mumtaz and Shahjahan are situated.
The Quran's verses are engraved on those graves. The beauty of the Taj increases hundred times on the full moon night. Every day countless people come to visit the Taj.
We felt wonder-struck to see its beauty. We forget to eat, to drink, only looked at the Taj. No wonder, it is called the 'Dream In Marble' the whole Taj complex, which appears to be a fairyland.
